Do students need to provide their email to use Ziplet?
Students don't need accounts and can use Ziplet by simply providing either a first name, nickname, or answering anonymously.
What personally identifiable student information does Ziplet collect?
Ziplet only collects the minimum amount of personally identifiable information necessary for use of the product:
The name a student enters when answering questions
The name of the class the student belongs to
IP address
For students using legacy Connect accounts, we also collect:
Student emails
Profile images if uploaded by the student
Does Ziplet advertise to students?
No.
We will never advertise on Ziplet.
Does Ziplet sell or rent student information?
No.
Ziplet will never sell or rent student information.
Does Ziplet sign Data Privacy Agreements (DPAs) on request?
Yes.

What is your breach notification process?
We notify affected users of any confirmed data breach involving staff or student records. This notice is provided within 72 hours of confirmation.
What’s your GDPR legal basis for processing data?
We process data under the basis of Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) for institutions gathering student feedback and improving teaching and learning, in a manner proportionate and within user expectations.
Does Ziplet use third-party vendors and sub-processors?
Yes.

For how long is data retained?
Ziplet automatically deletes or de-identifies personal information 7 years after a user’s last interaction with Ziplet.
Ziplet will destroy personal information within 1 month of receipt of a request.
